WAS 2014 Annual Conference; September 17-21, 2014; Missoula, Montana

For all you laggards who haven’t got your registrations in yet, you now can register and pay online at https://wasmissoula.eventbrite.com

And you can find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/WesternApiculturalSociety thanks to Bee Girl Sarah Red-Laird. (You can meet her at the Next Generation Beekeepers Summit Thursday evening (18th) and Saturday morning (20th) as well as her talk during the conference on Friday morning (19th)). No more excuses. You have to be in Missoula next week! Only seven days left to the beginning of one of the best beekeeping conferences ever!

Please pre-register so you don’t miss out on any of the great optional items available at the conference — like the Feastival dinner Thursday evening and the WAS banquet Friday evening. Some of these events close before the conference starts so if you aren’t signed up ahead of time, you will miss out.

Highlights of what to expect at the conference:

  • Three days of the best beekeeping experts on the planet, from the US, Canada, Italy, Northern Ireland and New Zealand.
  • The most exciting new “toys” in the field of monitoring what goes on inside the beehive and how to interpret it
  • Systems for assisting development and commercialization of new products for advancing the science of beekeeping
  • Education as it pertains to beekeepers, the public, children

and a great deal more.

Don’t forget the Saturday events – a wide range of excellent workshops and short courses designed specifically for clubs and those who aren’t able to get away from jobs during the week. THIS IS ESPECIALLY FOR YOU. Make sure you take advantage of them. Only $30 allows you access to as many as you can pack into the morning (starts at 8 a.m.) And then there is the Saturday afternoon Missoula Honey Harvest Festival – free to the public and filled with loads of educational and fun stuff.

As if that isn’t enough, we may still be able to add a beekeeping tour on Sunday morning before heading home. Unfortunately, the Glacier Park option isn’t available as the park is being closed early because of road construction etc. in the vicinity. More on the tour next time and at the conference.
